Here is the Book

This print was created for the great Paston book project. In fact, it starts it off because the book depicted is the fifteenth/sixteenth century Paston parish records. The book was found in the rood screen arch corner, (see 'Discovery at Paston', also by Tim Lenton). The organ was in front of this hidden corner of the church for centuries and successive vicars and churchwardens just put anything they didn't want in the hole. The book was wrapped in part of a 15th century missal - beautifully illuminated and a rare connection with a way of worship that has gone.

The project consumed all my time when I wasn't teaching for about two years. I ran it with the able help of the InPrint group of artists and poets. The idea was to introduce the Paston Letters to a new audience by making a hand printed book of new work inspired by them and use a new 'green' printing method, non-toxic intaglio printing. (more about that later) Lots more about the project on the www.pastonheritage.co.uk site.
